Which pod device is better the Nord 2 kit vs RPM40 kit?
This time Smok really did come up with something great meanwhile they managed to upgrade the old and trusty too. The original Nord came out last year and while it had some defects – it was a very good device. The Nord 2 kit is an upgrade with variable Wattage to the original. The RPM40 kit came out at the end of last year and it became apparent that it is an amazing go to kit. If you look at the specs both of them are in the same range, 1500 mAh battery and Variable Wattage are the two most important factors. They even take the same coils: Nord and RPM40 with same volume of reservoirs. The only thing is different that the RPM kit is a bit “smarter” but not everyone needs that upgrade. So the quick answer: Pick either one that looks good for you.
What are quirks and features of Nord 2 kit?
If you are familiar with the original Nord device you will not find it too different from it. It has 1500 mAh battery, Comes with two pods: one for RPM and one for Nord coils. The difference from the RPM40 is that this time the pods are harder to differentiate because both refill flaps are black.
Changing the wattage isn’t hard but at first not that intuitive: 3 clicks and hold ’til it “runs up” to the desired wattage then stop and wait for it to blink 3 to save it. To clear the Puff counter you just replace the cartridge or vape over 999 puffs. There is no other options or commands to the device. This is where the RPM40 shines over the Nord 2.
Unfortunately my biggest problem with the original Nord is still present in the Nord 2. The Pods are “clicking” into the device so it only stays in using friction. I was hoping for a magnetic lock that we can experience in other Pod devices Like Voopoo Vinci and RPM80.
What are quirks and features of RPM40 kit?
So far it seems like a very trustworthy device. Not many defects and you have to really try to break it. One way is to force the pod the wrong way and that requires great force to do. The worst thing I can say about the RPM40 is that the mouthpiece isn’t that ergonomic. Not terrible but not as nice as the Nord.
With two adjustment buttons it is more intuitive. The chipset is a bit smarter than the Nord 2 kit: you can clear the Puff counter, you can change the colors on the display and lock the device / buttons.
Nord 2 kit VS RPM40 kit conclusion:
All these differences boil down to the simple answer as user preferences. The shape and design of the devices are almost the same. The software is only a tiny bit different – some people wont even use the missing features. The devices come with different patterns and colors both of them have enough variants to find one to like.
